Micro-Climate
The temperate Whanganui climate has proven ideal for the production of high quality olive oil. While the climate may lack the hot sunny environment normally associated with the mecca of world olive production in the Mediterranean, it allows the trees and fruit to grow in a stress-free environment.
Westmere Rd is also very close to the coast, a must to produce high quality olives according to even the Mediterranean masters.
Soil-Type
Rich Otamatea loam recognised as some of the best soils on the globe.
Planted
The grove features 1700, 20-year-old trees planted in 2000 with four varieties - Leccino, Frantoio, Picholene and Koroneiki.
